For anyone out there reading this who isn’t familiar with your name,
please give them a brief summary of your life’s endeavors.
My life’s endeavors are:
1 Marriage, 2 daughters, 1 granddaughter, 6 bands –
SAG/Crimpshrine/15/Phone Bill/Phallucide/Tescoflex 7
Lots of drugs and alcohol, lots of sobriety, Critical Mass, Food Not
Bombs in a few towns, Needle Exchanges in a few towns, HIV related employment,
teaching a little 5-7 grade science, nursing school.

What has been your proudest moment as a musician/songwriter?
Over the years as a guy in band I have been able to hand out hundreds
of thousands of condoms and hundreds of copies of the courage to heal.

I’ve read a few different stories of why Fifteen broke up in 1996. To
set the story straight, why did Fifteen end up breaking up?
Once I was sober for awhile I realized I didn’t have to be in a band.
So I quit the band.

Since Fifteen, you embarked on a solo career as an acoustic songwriter,
author, and returned to school. Tell us a little about your books and
the path you are currently following.
Currently when I record music I will only put it on the net, I am
working on 2 more books, no idea when they’ll be done.  I should be done with
nursing school in a year and a half.

In your book “Weapons of Mass Destruction and The Real War On Terror?”,
you explored the history of police brutality in the Santa Rosa police
department (a town I myself lived in at one time). The main focus was on
the Sonoma County area, what are the other police departments that you
have witnessed high rates of brutality?
Every American city that I have looked into has serious problems with
their police departments.  I don’t think there is anywhere very different in the US.
The bigger the city, the worse the policing.

You’re obviously highly active in the political affairs of the community. In
the last few years there has been a strong economical crunch that the
mainstream is now feeling. What are some of the signs that you’ve
witnessed that predicted this mainstream economical downfall.
There is no economic crunch or recession or depression.  The worlds
economy provides enough wealth for no one to be poor.  Our problem is that  we’re
too stupid to recognize that being rich is being a thief, and that taking wealth away
from the rich is not theft it is justice.  This has been a constant here since 1492.

What do you think needs to first change immediately to get the United
States to the people and not pawns to the governments and corporations?
The United States will never belong to it’s people.  Representative
democracy is impossible.  If everyone voted on every issue than we would have a
democracy, until then we have a type of  monarchy.  In 1776 King George  ruled
over 5.6 million subjects.  Today our president rules over 300 million.

Since you’ve had children how has your lifestyle changes?
I had my first child at 15 so I’m not sure what to compare it to.  When
she was born I became homeless.  When my second was born I moved to a town of
200.  My lifestyle has changed a lot.

How are you teaching them about the world they live in, without making
them  feel the world they live in is in Chaos?
The world they live in is chaos.  I have no reason to hide that from
them.  I could only explain how I have avoided parts of it.

You have been through so many different experiences in life, some good,
but also a ton of negative. What was it that finally got you to realize
enough was enough and you had to stop living as an addict or you were
going to die?
When the people in the ER told me that I was going to expire soon.

I read an article in your old zine “My World” about the DIY punk
environment and thought your view was very interesting. Please enlighten
the  readers about your thoughts on the current “DIY punk community”.
I haven’t been involved with punk rock for years.  I sporadically tour
or play a few shows but that’s about it.  Punk has turned a lot of people  towards
activism, but most people who were ever into punk aren’t.  So punk  isn’t a big part
of my life now because I find movement is much more important to  me.

Of all the music you’ve made, the books you’ve written and the groups
you’ve been involved with, which has had the biggest life long impact on
you?
Alcoholics Anonymous, it’s the only thing that has been literally life
or death for me.
